I call them card sorts because originally they had cut out cards to match but that became to much to manage, so I just made the documents below and they created a color code if there were fewer than 7 different choices. I will update as I go, but here is what I have so far.

**IMPORTANT**

If you can't open a file, it's because your school district blocks access to files outside your domain.

If you want to edit the files, you must make a copy of the file. This is public on the web, so if you can't access it, it is most likely your domain settings.

2. Make sure when you open the slide deck you are in your school domain to make sure the slide deck will open for the kids.

3. The rubrics are screenshots that I incorporated as the background so that they loaded faster for students doing this at a place that doesn't have robust wifi. What does that mean? That means you can't edit the rubrics, but you can quickly make one of your own by inserting a table and typing in what you want and getting rid of what you don't.

Here is the slide deck

Happy reviewing!
Rachel Murathttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04845245167502044624noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6122836905857309115.post-46814631850423224052023-05-01T15:08:00.000-07:002023-05-01T15:08:13.732-07:00US History Review Resources
Hello!

I know many of us are feeling a lot of angst as we barrel towards the June 1st, 2023 administration of the US History Regents!

If you are in search of a pacing guide and/or resources, I have linked mine here.

I will only have about 2.5 weeks for review, so I am trying to cram as many things in here as I can.

If you find this helpful and feel so inclined, my Venmo for coffee is @Rachel-Murat

A couple notes:

1. This is public on the web, so if you can't access it, it is most likely your domain settings.

2. You will have to make a copy of anything you want to edit.

3. The Google Forms I have linked are just for you to see how I do that part of review. (I have the kids enter in their answers to the HW as their bell ringer so I have the data on which questions we need to go over). You will NOT be able to see any of the data, so you will NEED TO MAKE YOUR OWN GOOGLE FORMS.

4. Teacher hack! I made one Google Form, set it up the way I wanted to (made it a quiz, answers released automatically, 10 questions, name question, 4 choices for each question) and then just simply made a copy of it for the subsequent 9 assignments. All you have to do is change the name of it and input the correct answers for each assignment. The entire process took me less than 20 minutes.

5. All of the Quizlet and Blooket games linked are able to be accessed by your students, unless your domain prohibits it. The Blooket games are set to expire 14 days after I created them, so I will do my best to make sure I reauthorize them before they run out.

6. The Review Session Google Doc is also not going to allow you to see your student's answers, so you will need to create your own.

7. Teacher Hack! I set up the Google Sheets that is populated from the Google Form to send me a notification when someone signs up for a review session. This means I don't have to keep checking it.

8. I am sending this home to each of the parents/guardians of my 55 US History students so they are aware of what is out there for review, the expectations and what review sessions are available.

9. The drag and drop on the bottom of the calendar will only work if the students make a copy of it. Once they do that, they can drag and drop on each of the slides. If this doesn't work for them, it is most likely that they didn't make a copy of it or your domain restricts it.

10. If you have any questions, my email is rmurat@me.stier.org

Happy Reviewing!

Other links that might be helpful:

US History Resources

On my blog, I also have resources for Psych, Entrepreneurship, GSuite, Digital Citizenship and other miscellaneous items. You are welcome to use any of them. You are NOT authorized to sell on ANY platform.
Rachel Murathttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04845245167502044624noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6122836905857309115.post-50428897633152436842023-02-07T06:35:00.011-08:002023-02-13T05:10:00.275-08:002023 Student Entrepreneurship Surveys
Our Entrepreneurship class is embarking on the creation of their own businesses and could use your help! Truck Project Resources
As an introduction to our final entrepreneurial competition, we do the Food Truck Project. This enables us to hone the skills we will need for the regional competition in which we innovate our own product or services and do a Shark Tank like pitch, including creating a business plan and trade show booth to local business owners.

Before you use them, you will want to

1. Go to File and Make a Copy of each file you are going to use. This will enable you to edit them.
2. Check all links to make sure they are still active and are accessible in your domain.
3. Decide how you want to push these out to your kids.
4. Edit what you need. There are some slide decks that have been compressed so they are more accessible to students at home. This means you can't edit the slides, but you can always insert one of your own slides and delete the one of mine you don't want.

I cannot emphasize how important it is that you check every single link INSIDE your domain to make sure that your students will be able to access the resources.

All of the files are public on the web, if you click on a file and it asks to request permission, it is because your school domain does not allow you to access files created outside your domain. I will update this blog as I make more, but you can also access other US History Resources here and US/Civics/Economics Hyperdocs here. Additionally, you can access my Digital Leadership Resources here. Here are my updated Economics slide decks for this year.

If that is the case, you will need to open it with your personal Gmail account and then share it with your school account, and then open your school Drive and go to Shared With Me.

The remote only versions have gold boxes. The gold boxes are the cue to the students they have to put an answer in there based on what the slide is asking them. If they can't type on the slide, they simply need to insert a text box over the gold box.

I've included the tutorials that go with the slides for the ones I thought needed one.

I started putting boxes in the margins of the slides so that kids can add information as we discuss it in class. I let them choose where and give them a goal. For example, if there are 5 places for class notes, they have to put information in 3.

You have my permission to share these with your students and colleagues as long as you give me credit on them. You do NOT have permission to sell these on any site.

Student Handout Note

You can print out the hand out, but I would not, in it's current format, push it out to the students since it will be too small for them to read. If you need to push it out to them electronically, pull the slides from the teacher slide deck to build what you need.

Teacher Slides Note

These are ready to go. I will update this blog as I make more, but you can also access other US History Resources here and US/Civics/Economics Hyperdocs here. Additionally, you can access my Digital Leadership Resources here. Here are my updated Economics slide decks for this year. Lastly, here are my GSuite slide decks for students (or you).

Before you use them, you will want to

1. Go to File and Make a Copy of each file you are going to use. This will enable you to edit them in most cases.

5. Here is a tutorial I made to show you how (and why) to compress slide decks.

I cannot emphasize how important it is that you check every single link INSIDE your domain to make sure that your students will be able to access the resources.

All of the files are public on the web, if you click on a file and it asks to request permission, it is because your school domain does not allow you to access files created outside your domain. If that is the case, you will need to open it with your personal Gmail account and then share it with your school account, and then open your school Drive and go to Shared With Me. In some cases that still doesn't work. Try copying and pasting the slides from your copy of my slide deck into a slide deck that was created inside your domain.

You have my permission to share these with your students and colleagues as long as you give me credit on them. You do NOT have permission to sell these on any site.

If you have questions, feel free to email me at rmurat@me.stier.org

If you feel so inclined, my Venmo for coffee is @Rachel-Murat. If it asks, the last four of my phone number are 9476.

21-22 Slide Decks

This is Me

Class Logistics

Email Practice

Weekly Email Skills Rubric

SMART Goals

Employability Skills

Resume 101

Communication Skills (Here are the Rubrics to test out for each)

You can use a Google Voice phone number if you aren't comfortable giving the students your cell number to call if you don't have a direct line at school. I will update this blog as I make more, but you can also access other US History Resources here and US/Civics/Economics Hyperdocs here. Additionally, you can access my Digital Leadership Resources here. Here are my updated Economics slide decks for this year.

Before you use them, you will want to

1. Go to File and Make a Copy of each file you are going to use. This will enable you to edit them in most cases.

<span style="color: Etiquette Slide Deck
Below you will find an activity that will help kids work on their email etiquette, which most of us will find useful in this remote/hybrid environment. You can also access other US History Resources here and US/Civics/Economics Hyperdocs here. Additionally, you can access my Digital Leadership Resources here and my We Googled Ourselves Activity.

Before you use them, you will want to

1. Go to File and Make a Copy of each file you are going to use. This will enable you to edit them.
2. Check all links (if there are any) to make sure they are still active and are accessible in your domain.
3. Decide how you want to push these out to your kids.
4. Edit what you need.
5. I compressed the file so that it would be more accessible to those without robust broadband. That

means that the slides are smaller in file size. It also means you can't edit the slides, but you can very

quickly create a new slide that has your specific information on it and replace the slide.

You have my permission to share these with your students and colleagues as long as you give me credit Googled Ourselves (Hybrid and Remote Instruction)
In our ever more digital environment, it is very important for students (and adults) to evaluate their online presence. This is a great digital citizenship lesson that can lead to many rich conversations about their online presence and whether they are thinking critically about what they are posting, sharing, liking, etc.

In the past, I have had our students do an exercise where they predict what someone meeting them online for the first time would think of them.

If you feel so inclined, my Venmo for coffee is @Rachel-Murat. If it asks, the last four of my phone number are 9476.

Activity

1. Watch Positively Social

2. Assign Slide Deck

3. Walk them through the Slide Deck with the activities.

4. Let them work.

5. Discuss what they found and then talk about the concept of a Digital Footprint.

This exercise really gets them thinking about their presence online and how people would perceive them. I then show them some statistics about employers who check social media and how that affects their decision making when it comes to hiring.

This activity is digital in nature and can be shared through your LMS or through a simple link.

Teacher tips:

1. I compressed the slide deck so that it would be about 1/4 of the original size and would be more accessible to those without a robust broadband connection.

2. I created a tutorial for students to walk them through the activity.

3. If you can't open the Slide Deck, it is the filter at your school. It is set to anyone with the link can view. Please do not request editing access. You need to go to your personal Google account, open it, make a copy and put it in your school's domain. If you can't open it in your school account, the kids won't be able to either. Putting it into your school's domain from your personal Google account should enable them to access it.

4. Because I compressed the file, the slides are not editable. Having said that, you can still delete whatever slides you want. You can also insert a slide with your Bitmoji, information, rubric, etc and delete the corresponding slide out of my slide deck.

5. If you input your own slides, it's a good idea to compress the file so that it is more accessible to your remote learners. Here is a tutorial on how to do that.

Enjoy!

Rachel Murathttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04845245167502044624noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6122836905857309115.post-75441669470346907462020-08-05T07:36:00.018-07:002022-01-04T03:13:47.005-08:00Digital Economics ResourcesAs we approach the 20-21 school year, there is so much to take in, process and then do that my head is spinning. I still have 4 weeks until I see the kids but I am starting to get my hyperdocs changed to meet the needs of our new norm.

I started with Econ since I had most of those hyperdocs built and only needed to tweak them. Here is the first hyperdoc of the year. I'd love your feedback on it! It has evolved over time and now that Digital Citizenship is part of our K-12 curriculum, it has morphed into a Digital Leadership course. Linked below are past blog posts describing activities as well as my Google Drive folder of activities.

I added in gold boxes as a cue to the students that they needed to type something on the slides. I also included tutorials to help students review what their tasks are.

If you encounter a slide that the students can't type on, simply have them insert a text box.

Before you use them, you will want to

1. Go to File and Make a Copy of each file you are going to use. This will enable you to edit them.
2. Check any links to make sure they are still active and are accessible in your domain.

If that is the case, you will need to open it with your personal Gmail account and then share it with your school account, and then open your school Drive and go to Shared With Me.

You have my permission to share these with your students and colleagues as long as you give me credit on them. You do NOT have permission to sell these on any site.

If you feel so inclined, my Venmo for coffee is Everything below is Public on the Web, so if you can't access it, it is most likely a filter setting on your school domain. You will need to open it with your personal Gmail account and then share it with your school account.

You are free to make a copy of any of the materials and edit them to fit your needs. You are welcome to share them with colleagues. You do NOT have permission to put them on ANY paid site. These are not to be sold, even after you edit it.

I have a couple different versions of it based on the class in which I was using it.

Before you use them, you will want to

1. Go to File and Make a Copy of each file you are going to use. This will enable you to edit them.
2. Check all links to make sure they are still active and are accessible in your domain.
3. Decide how you want to push these out to your kids.
4. Edit what you need.

All of the files are public on the web, if you click on a file and it asks to request permission, it is because your school domain does not allow you to access files created outside your domain. If that is the case, you will need to open it with your personal Gmail account and then share it with your school account, and then open your school Drive and go to Shared With Me.

You have my permission to share these with your students and colleagues as long as you give me credit on them. You do NOT have permission to sell these on any site.

If you feel so inclined, my Venmo for coffee is @Rachel-Murat. If it asks, the last four of my phone number are 9476.

We needed a brain break in US History, so we used the Art Selfie feature in the app and then smashed it with Padlet to bring the 6 Degrees of Art Selfies to life!

If you have 3 minutes to vote for your favorite Art Selfie based on the following criteria, the students and I would really appreciate it!

The ONE you choose should be the most
1. Accurate
2. Original
3. Creative
4. Followed the directions
a. has the name of the portrait in the title
b. made an accurate connection from that person to something we have studied in US History.

The student with the most up votes by the end of the competition (start of class on Thursday... 1:00PM EST on 3/28) will win a scratch off ticket. In the mix of scratch off tickets are

1. Thanks for playing! Try again! (Tons of these)
2. $10 gift certificate to our school coffee house (1 of these)
3. $10 gift certificate to Dunkin Donuts (1 of these)
4. Pizza Party for the class at a later date. (1 of these)
5. Brain Break/15 minute walk outside on a nice day (several of these)

Vote Here! You can vote simply by clicking the thumbs up of the one you think best fits the above criteria.

If you are interested in the lesson, here it is...

Prior to the lesson, I asked 10 kids if they would be willing to download the Google Arts and Culture app to their smartphone so that the students without a phone or who do not have the ability to download an app would have someone to pair up with.

I created a Padlet with the directions in the title.

I created an example of what I was looking for in the post.

I made direction slides in Google Slides (the way I deliver directions every day).

Introduced it as a way to not only review, but take a badly needed brain break all while having a healthy competition.
It is housed in Google Slides and can be viewed here. They signed up via a Google Doc and had to use an app/extension that was not used for our app/extension reviews.

They chose apps/extensions that even I learned from, which is a pretty big feat since I have over 250 apps and extensions!! This year not only did we have our classmates, we also had two teachers, our building assistant principal, a former board member and parent as well as an Assistant Superintendent and our Superintendent in as guest judges! Here is the Google Form that everyone used as the feedback form. We are working on presenting in front of a broader audience so that when we do our final presentations in January, the large audience that includes all of the above plus community members and parents, we are rock star presenters!

Our winner (chosen by her peers and guest judges) was Mia (Twitter)!

We hope you learn from our app smackdown! Which one did you like the best?

Here is the rubric that guided them in their creation of the end product. They gave me feedback as to what they should be responsible for and this was the end product:
